The Modoc County Courthouse, with its striking copper painted dome, stands out on the landscape in the small Northern California town of Alturas. Constructed in 1914, it is the third county courthouse building. It is still in use, nearly 100 years later, standing the test of time.

Looking straight down on D.V. Rogers' shake table, revealing the control bunker where earthquake data is received and processed to trigger the table in response to California earthquakes. According to the artist, the artwork "is a blip on the geological radar, an interactive earthwork which connects, maps and creates a temporary reference point within the scale of geological time" as earthquakes occur.

The Sundial Bridge, completed in 2004, is a beautiful, glass deck footbridge across the Sacramento River in Redding, CA. According to the designer, world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, the bridge resembles a bird in flight and symbolizes the overcoming of adversity.

Looking down over the temple, you can see the five main structures---"a group of outlying buildings growing towards a central nave clad in a series of spires that reach towards the sky" as the artists describe it.

The finer details of the Basura Sagrada Temple emerge from this vantage point, both in the work itself, and in the shadows. Shrine, Tuktuk, and the Basura Sagrada Collaboratory constructed the temple primarily from materials cast aside by society, including trash, recyclables, other "tossed-off detritus."
